on the cover of 'People'
The Outlook Group has launched the leading celebrity news magazine 'People' in India, they has just managed to get the Father-Daughter pair of Sanjay Dutt and Trishala to grace the cover of their inaugural issue in India. The magazine's first issue carries a touching account by Trishala Dutt of her meeting with her father, Sanjay Dutt. Father and daughter met in the Bahamas recently where Sanju was shooting for his film, Blue. His wife of four months, Manyata was also present. The magazine covers an exclusive insight into the lives of Sanjay Dutt, Trishala and Manyata.
"You remind me of my youth. I love you beta," Sanjay told his daughter, when she rushed into his arms in the Bahamas.
In the Bahamas, Trishala spent some time with her dad during which he asked about her college work and showed great interest in the projects she was working on. Trishala, on her part, went all out to shower her dad with affection.
The teenager, who is a second year student at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, has also expressed a desire to join films. She has had her portfolio shot and aunt Enna has promised to help launch her film career. Trishala has yet to speak to her dad about her movie plans.
"He seems to be happy and if he is happy, then I'm happy for him. If he found what he needs in her (Manyata), then that's great," said Trishala soon after spending some time with her dad.
While Sanjay Trishala might not have developed affection for her new mother Manyata, but surprisingly the two bonded with each other during their stay in Bahamas.
Trishala Dutt was last seen with father Sanjay Dutt in the final days of the 93 Mumbai serial blast case. But then Sanjay Dutt was still a single man now she has a step mom who she hasn't had the easiest relationship with.
But that seems to have changed at least a little bit, as Trishala says she and her step mom have made a start over this trip in Bahamas where Sanjay's shooting for his film 'Blue'.
"According to what Trishala told to People Magazine she spent a significant amount of time with both Sanjay and Manyata. Since Sanjay Dutt was shooting for the film Blue in the Bahamas, she went out with Manyata for shopping and they also went to a Dolphin park together and had a good time," said Sandipan Dalal, Principal Correspondent, People Magazine.
Where father and daughter spent quality time, Trishala and Manyata shopped for everything from jewellery to bathing suits. The ice certainly is melting.
"Trishala told us that Manyata had consulted her while they were buying their bathing suits before hitting the pool. Also since Trishala is on a controlled diet, Manyata had ordered for a ceaser salad in keeping with her diet initially when she landed in the Bahamas," he said.
So, how did the six-day bonding exercise end? Specially since Trishala wasn't quite happy with the new lady in her dad's life.
Read the following excerpts from People Magazine to know what Trishala says about her relationship with Manyata
Excerpts from People magazine, on Trishala talking about her father:
On not taking his calls after his marriage to Manyata:
"No, I was not ignoring his calls. I was busy... There were times when I was in class when dad called and then it would be too late for me to call him back in India. Dad got the wrong idea of why I wasn't taking his calls so he finally SMSed me and I called him back," she says.
On speaking to him the first time after his marriage to Manyata:
"I spoke to my father a few weeks after his marriage. When we spoke, it was like any other conversation -- completely normal. There was no tension between us."
On some of the things she and her dad talked about in the Bahamas:
"He is proud of me for choosing criminal psychology. I was updating him on the homicide and missing person cases that I have studied, and my meetings with some criminals."
On her relationship with Manyata:
"So far so good."
Principal Correspondent Sandipan Dalal, who reported on the reunion between Sanjay and Trishala, said, "The days preceding their meeting, Trishala was both nervous and happy. Nervous, because she hadn't met her dad for over one-and-a-half year. Joyous, because she was looking forward to spending some quality time with him. It is clear that it was a very emotional six days for both father and daughter. They connected with each other and the goings-on in each other's lives once again. As for Trishala and Manyata, it would be interesting to see how their relationship develops. While Trishala's only wish is to see her father happy, six days is too soon for anyone to say with conviction whether she and Manyata will go on to forge a meaningful relationship."
Manyata, it may be recalled, was said to be the reason for an estrangement between daughter and dad. Just before Sanjay's sudden marriage to Manyata, Trishala gave a series of well-publicised interviews stating that her father had given her to understand that she would be the only woman in his life.
Priced at Rs 30, the India edition of People will be available on the stands from July 4
