Frankfurt debut: Lanica Flavia Cabrio

Lancia has releases new models for the Flavia Cabrio, which will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.



The Lancia Flavia Cabrio is powered by a 2.4 naturally aspirated engine, delivering 175 horsepower, connected to a six-speed automatic transmission.



The production version has specific 18 inch rims, LED tail lights and a slightly different grille, but the rest of it is carried over from the 200, itself an evolution of the Chrysler Sebring.



The soft top roof opens and shuts mechanically and has apparently been designed to store away so that the car keeps its sleek lines when cruising with the top down.

New Flavia Cabrio: four seats, four seasons



Following its critical and public success enjoyed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Lancia decided to produce the original Flavia Cabrio which enhances the stylistic features of the Italian manufacturer the Chrysler 200 model being launched on the European market.



The Lancia convertible is an interesting alternative for customers who want the benefits of a coupé without giving up the unique sensations that only an open-air car can offer. The new car indeed guarantees a fine driving experience unparalleled by any other in its segment, whether tackling the daily trip in town to go to the office or when taking to the splendid scenic roads out of town on week-ends.



In terms of length (4.9 metres), height (1.4 m) and width (1.8 m), the Lancia Flavia Cabrio is at the top of segment D, offering the ultimate in interior room - it can accommodate up to four adults - and on-board comfort with its generous 276-cm wheelbase.



Identifiable by an elegant and dynamic look, the new Flavia Cabrio has a sculpturesque front sporting the unprecedented grille with Lancia logo and the original front headlights and fog lights.

The surface of the side panel is extremely elegant and clean, in addition to being distinguished by a sleek line that lengthens the car and gives it dynamism and by elegant 18" alloy wheels.



The rear LED light cluster stylistically joined by a thin chrome-plated bar that further enhances the overall look contributes to accentuating its elegant design. This impression is further reinforced by the unusual twin chrome-plated tailpipe and by the sophisticated electrically-controlled soft top enclosed inside the hood cover, harmoniously built into the body with the third brake light at its base.



So if "elegance and dynamism" describe the exterior of the new Flavia Cabrio, the guidelines inside are refinement and innovation, in perfect tune with Italian style and the craftsmanship quality that has always distinguished Lancia cars. A new console has been created for him. Lancia Delta HF Integrale EVO Stretch Limousine

With the popularity of the Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi Evo, it'd be easy to dismiss the likes of the Lancia Delta HF Integrale as a relic of the past. But make no mistake about it: The roadgoing version of this Italian rally machine is as exotic and desirable as any supercar to come from the same country. All the more reason, then, to be appalled at this unfortunate conversion job.


It appears that some garage in Italy has taken an Integrale (possibly two, according to reports), chopped it up and stretched it into a limousine. If you're thinking that an all-wheel drive hot hatch is the worst possible candidate for limo-ification, we're with you. Whether the conversion job retains the all-wheel drive system remains a big question mark, however, with power coming from either the Integrale's eight-valve 2.0-liter turbo four or the Evo's 16-valve version.


If the two limos are based on original Delta HF Integrale cars or on standard Delta hatchbacks, and if they feature the Integrale's four-wheel drive system or not are questions that we don't have the answers to.

Ypsilon ELLE show car, world premiere

The Lancia Ypsilon continues to cause a stir, confirming its place as a true icon of Italian design. This time, it is the turn of the new Ypsilon ELLE show car, an original version created from a collaboration between Lancia and the ELLE brand, a symbol of modern femininity that sets trends each season with a vast range of women's clothing and accessories. Much more than just a name, it represents a unique lifestyle and a dynamic, modern and positive existence. ELLE embodies the modern woman: active and feminine, spontaneous and decisive, with a global outlook. Present in more than 80 countries worldwide, ELLE products are sold at selected retailers and the major European department stores.


Lancia has identified fashion as a preferred area of marketing that represents a key element of brand positioning. The link between Lancia and fashion is clear from its cars (like the Ypsilon Moda Milano, Ypsilon Versus and Musa Poltrona Frau), its adverts starring icons of Italian fashion like Stefano Gabbana and Carla Bruni, and the many industry events it sponsors. What's more, Lancia and fashion are two showcases of Italian design with shared values including talent, creativity and innovation. In other words, the ingredients that have made Italian style famous the world over.

So it seemed quite natural to combine ELLE and Ypsilon, the Lancia model directed at the same fashion-conscious audience.

The Ypsilon ELLE show car has many truly eye-catching features. First, there is the bodywork in a unique metalluro-effect pink that will stand out on the catwalk next year. In addition, the car offers chrome-plated details such as the radiator grille, the rear bumper, handles and door mouldings.

Then, on the outside pillar, there is the main silk-screen print - inspired by ELLE magazine covers and forming the ELLE logo. Also, the 16" alloy wheels are painted in the same pink as the body, but with a matt coat.



The customisation of the car really shows on the inside. The special purple leather and Alcantara upholstery - another colour currently gracing the catwalks - features an art composition with the word ELLE appearing ton-sur-ton on the middle part of the seat. The upholstery is further enhanced by contrasting stitching with bright white leather piping. The interior carpentry was done using a technical material that is also bright white and feels like a fabric. The cool colour scheme continues on the easy-chrome interior displays and central console, which features the purple gear stick gaiter to match the seats and the gemstone.

Finally, the interior of the car is made even more exclusive by the bright white Alcantara upholstery on the upper part of the central pillars and the whole roof panel, as well as by the Velour floor mats with leather edges.

The Ypsilon ELLE show car provides a sneak preview of a special series of cars that will be manufactured in limited edition and sold in spring 2010 in the major European markets.

Lancia: From Rallying to Catwalking

As we were going through Lancia’s official press site looking for car pics we happened to notice the absurd number of images with women –and that’s not including the show car babes. Don’t get us wrong; one of the first things we do at European car salons is to visit the Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Fiat stands, but it did made us think of what Fiat has turned Lancia into. The company that once produced automotive legends like the Fulvia Coupe and the Delta HF Integrale is now all about haute-couture versions of Fiat cars adorned with chicks. VIDEO: Lancia Delta's Presentation in Geneva

We have already brought to you all details on the new Lancia Delta: it is based on the same platform used for the Bravo, but a little bigger, for increased internal space. Therefore, it is 4.5 m long, 1.8 m wide, 1.5 m high and has a wheelbase of 2.7 m. What we have not told you so far was how the car was presented to the world. Better than telling you about it, we have managed to show it to you with this video.

In the presentation, it is possible to see three new Delta were hidden behind three panels that could turn to reveal the cars, while an orchestra played. Besides turning, these panels also could get down, in order to put the cars on the floor. When the three white Delta units reached the ground, two doors opened and allowed two black Delta to meet the public. Over these cars, two proud Lancia badge watched in silence.

Besides the measures of the car, we have also already informed the hatch will have only turbo engines, two petrol (a 1.4-litre 120 cv and 150 cv TurboJet) and one diesel (a 1.6-litre MultiJet generating 120 cv). It will also only feature six speed gearboxes (manual, automatised and automatic). More engine options are expected for the future, but the future we would really like to expect from Lancia is the return of an Integrale version of the Delta. And one that honors the glories this name has achieved in the past.
