Vikram Bhatt With His Daughter Krishna

While shooting for the horror thriller, the director realised that he needed a pianist. His daughter, who was on the sets assisting him, was the perfect fit.

Explains Vikram, “ There’s a scene in the movie where the lead actress ( Tia Bajpai) is attending a piano class. I needed a pianist and that’s when my daughter came to mind.” Krishna is a Class XI student at the Ryan Global School. The 16- year- old is obviously very excited to be directed by her father in her debut film.

Prefers acting A sixth- grade pianist, Krishna has been learning the instrument for eight years now. The youngster harbours acting aspirations. “ When she began assisting me during 1920, she told me she was interested in direction. But she was fooling me, I know she prefers acting first.” For the past three years, Vikram has been spotted with his daughter ( from his ex- wife Aditi) at various B- Town events. In fact, all his story ideas and scripts are narrated to his daughter. Bhatt feels he get instant reactions through her expressions and accordingly works on the script.

Vikram was 14 when he started with Mukul Anand’s Kanoon Kya Karega in 1984. Krishna seems to be following suit at 16.

Vikram Bhatt's 14-Year-Old Daughter Took Him and His Ex-Wife Out For Dinner

Vikram Bhatt is in the middle of shooting his next adventure thriller titled Shaapit. He is producing six films this year but that doesn't mean it's all about work. The currently-single director is enjoying bonding with his daughter Krishna, and how they had a Father's Day dinner together, two days ago. Here Vikram talks about his daughter's plans to follow in his footsteps and why he isn't ready to get into another relationship among other things...

You daughter took you out for Father's Day dinner...
It was sort of a surprise, and a pleasant one at that. Since it was Father's Day, Krishna decided to take my ex-wife Aditi and me out for dinner. She also bought me a couple of trinkets and a scroll which was a big surprise for me. I think she really made the day special for me.

You are closer to her than you were before?
Yes, Krishna is now fourteen and takes an active interest in my work. I am happy with the time I share with her today, and we try and spend as much together as possible.

Didn't you say you made Ankahee for her? Was she happy with the film?
Yes it was made for her and she's watched it quite a few times. As for her opinion on the film, she's very quiet about it.

What does you daughter think of your films?
Well, she has mixed opinions. There are films that she has liked and some she hasn't. But she does watch everything I make and has a firm opinion, which does matter to me and I take it very seriously.

Does she plan to follow in your footsteps?
Yes, she wants to be a director some day. In fact, she co-wrote the script for my TV series on Sony. She loves to be around when I am narrating a script that's her favourite part. In fact, now that am in the middle of film making, Krishna loves to come and spend time on my sets whenever possible.

Do you meet your ex-wife? Are things cordial now?
I can say that things are good and there are a couple of areas that I need to work on, and some things that need to be set right, and it will all happen in good time.

Why haven't you been in a relationship since Ameesha?
I don't want to hide my relation if I am in one. I don't feel the need to be with anyone at the moment.

Does your daughter ever talk about you getting married?
No, she doesn't want me to have a girlfriend. In fact, she's clearly told me that she has to approve the next woman that comes into my life. I guess I will have to obey her command!

You have repeated Adah Sharma in Phirr, is it true that she's signed an exclusive contract with you?
I have no exclusive contract whatsoever with Adah. In fact, that only happens in the first film with new actors. But Adah is free to work with outside directors. However she hasn't really been offered much work. But I am happy to have her on board for Phirr.

How are you balancing directing and producing?
It's not that difficult. I am producing six films under ASA productions. Presently, I am directing Shaapit with Aditya Narayan, then there is Three with Nausheen Ali Sardar and Aashish Choudhary, directed by Vishal Pandya. Then there is Phirr with Adah and Rajneesh. Besides this, Khalid Mohamed will also be directing a film.

Vikram Bhatt Celebrates a Quiet 40th Birthday With Daughter Krishna

Vikram Bhatt celebrated birthday on Tuesday night (January 27) with his daughter.

Krishna's treat
Talking about it, the filmmaker says, "My 14-year-old daughter Krishna took me out for dinner as a treat, using her own pocket money. That was the best birthday gift I had. We had a sumptuous Indian dinner at Sun N' Sand. Trishna knows I love the black daal there so she chose the place."

Vikram adds laughingly, "Though I have always been spiritual, this year I have been flooded with idols of Ganpati and books on the Bhagwad Gita. Maybe people think that since I haven't had any girlfriends or affairs or wasn't going around with any actress last year, it's time for me to take up sanyaas now. Of course, my parents think I have regressed into my childhood days — they gifted me the latest Sony playstation."

Last year, ex-girlfriend Ameesha had thrown a surprise birthday party for him at a common friend's place even though they had broken up. Vikram says, "I think I have become too old for surprises now. Ameesha did wish me on my birthday this year too as always."

Vikram Bhatt With Daughter Krishna

Of late, Vikram Bhatt has been spotted with his daughter Krishna at various B-Town events. She accompanied the filmmaker to the premiere of Jaane Tu and was also at the coffee table book launch of Vikram's horror flick, 1920. The youngster has also been seen on the sets of the film.

It is learnt that the 14-year-old recently harboured aspirations of being a director. As a result, she has been accompanying her dad to get a feel of showbiz. Says Vikram, "I was 14 when I started with Mukul Anand's Kanoon Kya Karega in 1984. Krishna has done her homework. When anyone says, 'She is too young', she tells me, 'What age did you start, dad?' And that ends any further questions."

Friends post divorce
A student of Jasudben M L School in Khar, Krishna loves to watch movies and go swimming with her father. She stays with her mother Aditi, Vikram's ex-wife.

"Unlike most divorced couples, Aditi and I share cordial relations. In fact, she's the one who tells me to catch up with Krishna if I have been busy and not met her for a while.

And whenever things go wrong between father and daughter, it is Aditi who plays the peacemaker, telling both of us to call a truce. Aditi is okay with Krishna's idea of being a director. The one thing that she does not want Krishna to be is an actress!"

Best audience
Vikram also points out that he narrates his story ideas and reads scripts to his daughter first. "She's the best person to narrate an idea. You get instant reactions of boredom, joy, horror through her expressions. You can accordingly redraft the script."

The only grouse that Krishna has against her dad is that he makes mostly adult movies. "She can't see them, she tells me," says Vikram who feels that 1920, which releases on September 12, might just get an 'A' certificate too!
