1938 Alfa Romeo 8C named " In Show" Best; at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

The 58th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is now over, there were more than 200 classic cars displayed coming from 12 countries from around the world, but there can only be one winner for the "Best in Show" award.

This honour went to a 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring Berlinetta, a model that was only produced 33 times, but this extra special model owned by Jon Shirley, the former president and chief operating officer of Microsoft had extra special significance.

“This car has an intriguing history,” says Shirley. “It won the first race at Watkins Glen in 1948, and though the car’s been driven quite a bit, it’s never been wrecked. I’ve always been an Alfa fan, so winning at Pebble Beach just doesn’t get much better. I can’t wait to take it back on the road real soon.”

It is one of six privately commissioned Berlinettas featuring a unique body and it was also used in a few advertisements by the legendary Alfa brand.
